344. JOHNS CEMETERY - Lascassas Quadrangle. N on Memorial Boulevard (US 231N), right E on Holly Grove Road. ¼ mile W of Holly Grove Road. Marked "cem" on Dunaway's Chapel Road (Kings Chapel Baptist Church), left (NW) to Lane Road at the end of Lane road and in NW corner. Stones down and broken., Update by Estelle Hall, 2004.

We spoke with Mr. Lane whose family has owned this property since the 1960's. He has repaired the stones as you see them and demolished the old house with only the chimney left standing, 2008. This cemetery was 342 which has been moved from Jefferson Pike to this site.

Joseph Barksdale Johns settled in Tennessee in 1801. He lived briefly in Giles Co., TN, before settling in Rutherford Co. He enlisted and served as a private in the War of 1812 first in Captain Newton's Company, Col William Hall's Regiment of West TN Militia, and private in Capt Nathan Davis' Company in Regt. under Gen. Andrew Jackson, December 18, 1813. He purchased land on the East Fork of Stones River and at his death owned about 1,000 acres.

345. JOHNS CEMETERY - Lascassas Quadrangle. N on Memorial Boulevard (US231N), right on Holly Grove Road, right (S) on Dunaway's Chapel Road. 2/3 mile SE of Patterson Cemetery. This cemetery is at end of long arm access road and is just W of a farm house. Five or more unmarked graves., 1975

We spoke with the owners of this property whose family has lived/owned this property for thirty years. They knew nothing about this cemetery and we also walked the area and found nothing. This has been rental property for several years.
