Haynes-Avent-Beesley-Murfree-Kesler-Ramsey-Castelli
This is one of the
oldest houses on East Main Street and was built by J. C. Haynes, a cabinet maker, between 1845 and 1849.
It is still a marvel. The exterior walls are of solid brick fourteen inches in thickness. The interior walls
are also solid brick. Originally, the house was L-shaped with a center hall and two large rooms facing the street.
All of the woodwork throughout the house is cherry. Many of the windows still have the original glass.
