Clarke-Murfree-Ridley-Davidson-Goodman
This house was one of only four
or five standing on the unpaved street in 1852. John Newton Clark had chosen this lot (which extended from East
Main Street to East Vine Street) on which to build his Greek revival house.
The house had
changed little from 1852 until 1973 when it was renovated and restored. The contractor found that the load-bearing
hand made brick walls were sixteen inches thick. None of its original exterior appearance has changed
except for a new paint job.
